BRÄUNLINGEN COMMUNITY BIOGAS

Description: Bräunlingen is a small city in the Schwarzwald-Baar-District with about 5.800 inhabitants. The town is embedded in an active biogas landscape (14 biogas plants) as well as in regional nature conservation concepts (e.g. Natura 2000). The biogas plants are all located on agricultural farms and the biogas producers are all farmers. Nevertheless the situation of each biogas plant is individual, for example there are no households next to the biogas plant or the biogas plant is nearby an industrial area.

• Awareness raising actions regarding Community Energy
  • Informal meetings with biogas farmers
  • Official talks with town council and environmental agency, e.g. legal framework for the use of green waste in biogas plants
  • Informal expert workshop
• Support local stakeholders and social animators
• Develop suitable strategy for Bräunlingen
• Design and test Excel-tool to calculate financial benefits through the use of green waste in biogas plants

• Support next community event (expert workshop), widespread green waste tool
• Identify biomass potential from residues
• Support the legal framework for the use of green waste (e.g. contract template)
• Supporting the Community until reaching the final community biogas creation
